PROFILE

In recent years Mr. Velasquez has developed his professional career in the fields of Intellectual and Industrial Property Law as well as Labor Law. He has advised and represented leading companies in different sectors, such as fashion, energy, telecommunications, financial services, consumer goods, among others, both in contentious and non-contentious matters, including the preparation of legal opinions, specially on issues related to the protection of Intellectual Property Rights.

His practice has not only focused on the Process of filing for Registration of Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights at the respective national public offices or on filing petitions before the competent judicial and administrative authorities, but also on administrative litigation opposing third parties, objections and appeals.

In Labor Law he has gained experience advising in processes of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, the termination of labor contracts, dismissals; Internal Regulations of Companies, advisory on disciplinary records and Due Diligences related to compliance and potential risks related to labor matters in companies.

Mr. Velasquez studied law at the School of Law of the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (UPOLI), becoming an Attorney at law in 2009.

He was awarded a Diploma in Intellectual Property by the Central American Institute for Legal and Political Studies at UPOLI in 2012. He has participated in different courses on the of scope of the new Procedural Labor Code and in Social Security; “Procedural Labor Code and Social Security in Nicaragua, with an emphasis on Oral Litigation in Labor matters”, 2013; a Diploma in Orality in Labor Processes, 2015
