Alonso Porras

Alonso Porras has over 15 years of experience in the legal field. Interestingly, before becoming an attorney, he was engaged in business activities beginning in 1992, including real estate development. The constant proximity of his business ventures to legal and regulatory matters led him to pursue a law degree.   

 

He graduated Magna Cum Laude from both the Faculty of Law and the Master’s Program in Corporate Business Law. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Central American Institute of Business Administration (INCAE). His legal practice has focused on corporate and commercial law, developing a deep theoretical and practical understanding of the regulatory and compliance framework applicable to different economic sectors within an evolving governmental environment.

 

His advice to companies consistently maintains a preventive perspective, ensuring compliance with governmental and administrative regulations in order to protect his clients’ operations.  

He is known for his negotiation skills in complex transactions and circumstances, both with government institutions and among business actors. He has led teams in major mergers and acquisitions processes, from the initial due diligence stage through the execution of fifinal agreements. He has developed extensive experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions transactions, governance and corporate agreements, as well as in various facets of real estate practice.  

 

His mastery of real estate practice is grounded in his own business experience, as well as in his role as advisor to major coastal and urban development projects. In his real estate work, he has led the legal aspects of property acquisition, permitting and authorization processes before governmental and municipal authorities, the development of well-known urban and coastal real estate projects, housing projects (both high-profile and social interest), tourism developments, and the constitution of condominium regimes.

He has participated in public bidding processes and contributed to the drafting of laws and public policy agreements focused on trade facilitation, foreign investment, and social legislation initiatives.
